This weekend I had planned to take another tour, this time to Dachau to the Concentration Camp Memorial. Unfortunately my Lonely Planet guide let me down for the first time and I missed the tour departure, so that will have to wait until another day.
Instead I decided to spend a rainy afternoon in Munich and do some shopping. Not that I actually bought anything. I had hoped to find some new shoes to replace the rather worn out pair that I wear to work each day, but I didn't find anything - Well at least not at a price that I was willing to pay. I did find some Addidas boots reduced by €100, but unfortunately that was only a 50% reduction so they still cost €100! Something tells me I should try looking in some different shops.
One of the great things about visiting a new place is that you get to see so many interesting things, and so here are a few random things that I have found interesting here in Munich...
Munich suffered a lot of bomb damage during the second world war and so many of the buildings have been either replaced or rebuilt and restored. You can still see a lot of restoration work in the city. But what is great is that whenever a building is being restored, it is covered in a large representation of what the building will look like when its finished. So rather than being surrounded by unsightly scaffolding, Munich remains a beautiful city.

Ever needed to get money from a cash machine in the rain and wondered how to handle everything as well as an umbrella? Well, at a shopping centre in Ottobrunn I discovered a cash machine inside its very own kiosk. Great for those who like a little privacy ;)

I needed to buy a new deoderant and was rather curious to discover that the new range is 'mit joghurt'. Yes, that does mean with yoghurt. I'm not exactly sure why that should be a particular benefit in a deoderant. Sounds a bit sticky to me...

I've seen some strange shops in different places, but this for me is the strangest so far. The Maggi Koch Studio. That would be a shop / cafe where you can not only buy your favourite Maggi stock cubes and sauces, but where you can savour the delights of a range of Maggi products and watch as they are carefully prepared for you in their open kitchen. Not sure I'll find the time to go and try the food.

There will be no Blog next week, as I will be in England for the weekend to attend the Wedding of Chris and Libby and meet my beautiful new Niece :)
